“Moon Hotel Kabul” is selected in the Competition at the goEast Film Festival 2019
“With MOON HOTEL KABUL, Anca Damian pulls off an enigmatic thriller steeped in paranoia, in which the search for truth and knowledge is invariably fragile. In at times surreally tinged reminiscences of the deceased woman, the boundaries are pointedly blurred between dream and reality, creating an atmosphere of impenetrability and ambiguity. Skillful performances by lead actors Florin Piersic Jr. and Ofelia Popii reinforce the emotional core of the story.”
Established in 2001, the goEast Film Festival offers more than 130 films from Central and Eastern Europe in seven film sections, but also a supporting programme with special events, podium discussions and parties, through which goEast permits an insight into the changing political and social situation in these countries and promotes cultural exchanges between East and West. In the competition, 16 outstanding feature films and documentaries compete for generous prizes, among them the Award of the City of Wiesbaden for Best Director.
